Clear Springs
Beautiful Clear Springs Mississippi! It was gorgeous out there… dispite sleeping in tents, “open toilets”, rain, below freezing temperatures and broken bikes, we all had a great time out there… taking in about 35 miles of glorious downhills and grueling uphills in a 48 hour period. Got to get a bit of practice in on my new clipless pedals, until I broke my derailer and had to single speed the last 8 miles out on one ride. One of the guys out there was so kind as to set up one of his bikes for me to use for the last two rides… that bike was pure gold! I must report that I did fall over once d/t the clips… yes, while at a complete standstill… and yes, I have a technicolored bruise. other than that, they were great. It was nice to not to have to worry about your feet bouncing off the pedals on the downhills and to be able to pull up on the uphill strokes.
Probably not the first thing that comes to most of your minds… but, everyone can at least enjoy the mental picture of when I fail to “clip out” (pivot my heel 15-20 degrees outwards to unclip the shoes from the pedal) for the first time and end up admiring the beautiful fall foliage as I ascertain whether all of my limbs are still intact.
