Beaten and Bruised

Yeah, so, I came to the realization that I had three band-aids on last night when I went to bed. I don’t think I’ve had that many band-aids on in about… a decade. :D So, you ask, how does this happen to a 23 year old who lives a fairly sedentary life? Good question. Band -aid number #1: Oh, My, GOSH!!! Your average, ordinary guitar. It looks so innocent, so smooth and polished. Who would ever beieve it is actually a cleverly disguised instrument of pain and torture :D. No really, I’m serious. Ok, so I had my guitar lying on the ground beside the couch the other night. An hour or two later, having fallen asleep reading my book, I wake up and head off to bed. Not, however, before managing to step/trip/slice open my foot on the guitar, still lying beside me on the floor. Yeah. You know the head of the guitar… very dangerous. Gotta watch out for those “strings” (a very deceptive name for razor-sharp wires). So band-aid number 1 was for the inch long razor-slice on the bottom of my right foot. Oh, the guitar?, you ask? It was fine, just fine. Band-aid number 2: outer left hand, scratched by a rose bush while mowing the yard. I keep telling Mom that I don’t like that bush! :D. Band-aid number 3: Left knee. I don’t remember what happened. Ever have those? I DO remember looking down at my knee and thinking, Ohh, that’s gonna need some attention in a minute. Maybe it was when I was wrestling some HEAVY boxes into the attic. Because I remember I was doing something and couldn’t stop whatever it was at the moment. Hmm… one of those unsolved mysteries. Beyond that I have a whole handful of healing mosquito bites from various vicious misquitoes that have been roaming the house at night, and finding me, being as I am the only occupant at the present. The Family needs to come home, if only to give the mosquitoes optional targets. I just talked to Mom a few minutes ago… she was getting back from her massage. Yeah, her facial was this morning :D. That’s ok, I’m just back at the house getting beat up. That’s fine. :D

Good news and bad

Unfortunately… I am unable to find a rock wall in Baton Rouge, what’s up with this town?!? However, there is one in Slidell and one in New Orleans… Anybody up for some rock climbing this summer? (I’ve ALWAYS wanted to)

Also I went ahead and printed out the maps for the BREC bike trails, did you know that the “Comite River Trail” one is the smaller one (3 miles), the “Hooper Road Trail”, which begins in Sharon Hills (No, not that Sharon Hill) Subdivision is much larger (5 miles). Do bring your mosquito spray for the “Hooper Road Trail” however, that’s where the swamp is :D The two “Trails” connect however, so if you rode everything you could get in 8 miles. That, however, would be stretching it a bit. :D Looking back at the maps, Amber and I mostly rode Advanced Trails. :D We’re not very advanced, however :D. comitetrailmap.pdf hoopertrailmap.pdf

PS. As I commented several times to Amber as I was teetering at the edge of what I liked to call “cliffs”, bike helmets are required for this fine sport.

Can’t wait until Christmas!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Holly @ 12:30 pm

Yes, that is a funny thing to be saying in May, BUT… I was planning on convincing my dad that I needed a digital camera for Christmas… seems I need one now though, December is a Loooonnng way away. Amber and I went to the Comite Bike Trail today. We had a blast!!! An hour and a half and about four miles later we hit Sharon’s Kitchen with a relish. It was a great ride. Yesterday I went over to Amber’s to swim and get my hair cut. Cut indeed! See… once again, I need a camera! Cut and highlighted. Ya’ll are going to be shocked! I haven’t had my hair this short since I was a kid! It’s nice to be able to put it up in a ponytail again though.

Home Alone II

Filed under: Uncategorized — Holly @ 3:21 am

Mom and the kids headed out of town this AM, actually yesterday morning, as it is now after three in the morning… been up nearly 24 hours now… so this may very well be a delirious post, forgive me. I haven’t  posted much lately… been at the Cashio’s the last week and a half while they were out of town. Nice to be home again in a way. There’s nothing like your own little niche in the world, even if mine does happen to be extremely small. Half of a bedroom, in fact, only the top bunk, a dresser and half the closet :D. Ah well, life goes on… Tomorrow… Wally gets a bath, some puppy boot camp, the van gets some oil, clothes get washed, going to Amber’s to swim… get my hair cut off!?!?, now that it comes down to it… I LIKE it long. You know the feeling when your fingernails have gotten so long they are starting to get in the way but you hate to cut them because it took so long to get them too long :D. Know what I mean? Anyway, time to cut off about a foot I guess. Ah, well, it’ll grow again. Life does go on. Can you believe it is almost JUNE already?!?! I am getting old! Life is going tooooooo fast!

Christians and Atheists to Debate the Existence of God.

Does God Exist? Christians vs Atheists

ABCNEWS.COM

You can watch the debate Thursday, May 10 at 1 p.m. on ABCNews.com and 2 p.m. on ABC News Now.

(Half of it is already on the abc website to watch)

Why are Kirk Cameron, a preacher, and two self-proclaimed atheists coming together in a church this weekend? Because Cameron and preacher Ray Comfort claim that they “can prove the existence of God.”

The members of the Rational Response Squad squared off with Christians Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort about the existence of God.
Go check it out. I never imagined i would ever see such a thing. I heard about it a week or so ago and have been anxiously awaiting to see what it would be like. Also see the 5/3/07 Nightline: The Way of the Master.

BTW, these are the atheists who created the “Blasphemy Challenge” (which you can also see on abc.com) that opened this topic up to debate.

ABC: Targeting Teens
Taking risks with your own soul is one thing, but the Rational Response Squad advertises for the Blasphemy Challenge on Web sites for teens, like Tiger Beat. Why?

“They have already been targeted,” Brian says. “So hopefully they are at a point where they are not so indoctrinated and set in their ways that they can overcome this religious superstition that has been put into their brain unfairly.”

Isn’t that simply another attempt at indoctrination?

Brian says it isn’t.

Okay, last thing, how about Brian’s pseudo last name, “Sapient” aka Latin for “having or showing great wisdom or sound judgment”
