Field Trip

Filed under: Uncategorized — Holly @ 7:59 am

I went to the Zoo on Tuesday. Not just any zoo, but the AUDUBON ZOO!!! Great place.

What’s a zoo without the flamingos? Placed strategically right at the entrance. The cute little monkeys…

Isn’t the green shockingly so?

Hannah and her friend, yep, you can’t tell, but there’s a silverback gorilla behind them.

The Reptile Encounter! Most impressive. Most appreciative of the thin glass of separation. between me and all of the rattlers, pythons, etc.

A little carousel fun!

All in all we had a great time. The weather was perfect. Clear skies and sunshine, but a nice cool breeze. It was just spectacular. I’d love to go back and enjoy the zoo more leisurely. We zoomed around that zoo 1 1/2 times in the course of 3 hours. That included a carousel ride, a “train ride” around the zoo, some archeological excavation in the “Mayan Ruins”, climbing up the netting on Monkey Hill, and some good splashing around in “Pride Falls”, purchasing blue raspberry slushies, and the neccessary trip to the souvenir shop. I was nodding off for real on the 1 1/2 hour trip back on the bus.

STOP!!!

Somehow I failed to mention the other day (last Friday coming home from Wes’) that I was stopped by the “red, white, and blue” for running a stop sign. (I didn’t make a complete stop, bummer on that) As a mere fluke, I had taken a right down 1019 past hwy 16 to go through Richmond subdivision to our house (the long way) I NEVER go that way. It was the first time in over a month. Anyway, at the first stop sign I saw a police car sitting down the side street (which T’s into the one I was on). Yeah, so I didn’t make a full stop. I noticed the police car in the midst of my non-stop. Seconds later… red, white, and blue lightshow. Mom was in the passenger seat and the kids in the back. All amazed and all (very thankfully) buckled. I told Mom, “Uh, I think he’s pulling me over for not stopping at the stop sign…” Sure enough. Well, good ending, he did not write me a ticket.

What did scare me though was as soon as he stopped me he got out of his car on the radio and a lady’s voice was reading out my license number, car model, my name, home address, etc. I’m sitting there wracking my brain… did I steal this car?, is there a warrant out for my arrest?, is there an APB out on me?!?! After I assured my guilty conscious that none of these were true (to the best of my knowledge), I was totally relived to hear him say he was stopping me for not making a complete stop at the stop sign. When he came back to my car (with my ticket I thought) he asked if I had taken care of my ticket from november… if I had gone to court etc… I told him I had payed and even gone to the defensive driving class. All good and well. But now I’m wondering if the ticket is not showing up as cleared or whatever. Need to check on that this next week. Hmmm….

Handwriting on the wall?

Filed under: Uncategorized — Holly @ 2:45 pm

Here’s what Mom and I (mostly Mom) have also been doing over the coarse of the last month. It’s pretty neat. (I remember Dad correcting my English papers when I was younger because I used “pretty neat” very often. Apparently my adjective list was rather short :D ) (Sorry, just a side note there)

We still have to figure out what else to put up on the wall. It’s the main wall in the living room and it’s kind of bare with just the verse on it.

Here’s the one is Dave’s room. Mom did this one on her own. I tried to pick out an “armyish” font, recognize the fonts we used BJ? This one even I know :D.

Patio Bed. Everything came up fine on its own from last year.
Perinneals are so worth the extra investment!

Dave, we need to talk

I just realized that there is no link from your page to mine. :) Is there a profound reason why? I see that there are only guys in your links. Do you have an anti-girl blog?

Thanks to BJ busting my little bubble of offense…

Okay, sorry. I’m making a formal retraction. There IS a link to my page, and Glenda’s from Dave’s page. IT’S JUST SO TINY I CAN’T SEE IT!!! Pardon me.

Okay, so

Filed under: Uncategorized — Holly @ 10:23 pm

last Wed, Thur, and Friday I put in some serious yard work and have the farmer’s tan to prove it! I made the 14 foot circular area of dead grass (from last year’s above ground pool) into a flower bed. Imagine turning over that much soil, mostly clay!!! I’ll get pics tomorrow and post. It’s spectacular! I had to put in a 2 foot white picket fence around the perimeter to keep the dog out. I was afraid that otherwise my work would all be in vain. I also washed the dog (twice), went to Lowes (twice), WalMart (twice) and went fishing with the kids (twice). Also went to the gas station and Home Depot. I also weeded and dug out two small flowerbeds in front of our shed and planted some sunflower seeds. To top it all off, Mom and I went over to Wes’ on Friday at about noon to work on his flowerbeds. Mom and I went to Lowes, Harb’s and back to Lowes once again. (I think I need to invest in Lowe’s stock. Four trips in 3 days) We planted their front and back flowerbeds. Aghh… So very tired. And so very sunburned on the back of my neck! :)

Back Home Again…

Leaving work. Arriving home, 11:30 PM. I love my home. So much. Mostly because I hate my work. So much. Hmm. Okay, on a better note I am off for the next few days. Perchance I can recover my sanity over the next few days. Only to go back. “There” Ah well. Life goes on. Jordi, I hope you are doing well, been praying for you.
