The Nativity

Ms. Sara said something a few weeks ago that I’ve still been mulling over. She mentioned how we view the “nativity” in such a familiar way, such a “sweet” scene. When in fact it is such an surreal, mind-blowing, supernatural, sacred thing. We look at the familiar scene (that we have created), with the baby in the cradle, mary, joseph and some farm animals gathered around with such matter-of-factness. It’s one of those things that we just take for granted… something that is so mind-blowing that we as humans cannot even grasp.
I can say, that’s one thing I missed in the movie “the Nativity Story” that I was looking for. The expectation of something supernatural and the excitement of it’s fulfillment. I can only imagine waiting my entire life for the promise of a messiah to come to pass. ANd then to find out it happened in my lifetime. I don’t know what that would be like. It’s something I wish I could fathom. It’s something I wish I could feel today. But that is how we’re supposed to feel about his returning. We are supposed to have that smae excitement for Jesus to come back.
