STOP!!!

Somehow I failed to mention the other day (last Friday coming home from Wes’) that I was stopped by the “red, white, and blue” for running a stop sign. (I didn’t make a complete stop, bummer on that) As a mere fluke, I had taken a right down 1019 past hwy 16 to go through Richmond subdivision to our house (the long way) I NEVER go that way. It was the first time in over a month. Anyway, at the first stop sign I saw a police car sitting down the side street (which T’s into the one I was on). Yeah, so I didn’t make a full stop. I noticed the police car in the midst of my non-stop. Seconds later… red, white, and blue lightshow. Mom was in the passenger seat and the kids in the back. All amazed and all (very thankfully) buckled. I told Mom, “Uh, I think he’s pulling me over for not stopping at the stop sign…” Sure enough. Well, good ending, he did not write me a ticket.
What did scare me though was as soon as he stopped me he got out of his car on the radio and a lady’s voice was reading out my license number, car model, my name, home address, etc. I’m sitting there wracking my brain… did I steal this car?, is there a warrant out for my arrest?, is there an APB out on me?!?! After I assured my guilty conscious that none of these were true (to the best of my knowledge), I was totally relived to hear him say he was stopping me for not making a complete stop at the stop sign. When he came back to my car (with my ticket I thought) he asked if I had taken care of my ticket from november… if I had gone to court etc… I told him I had payed and even gone to the defensive driving class. All good and well. But now I’m wondering if the ticket is not showing up as cleared or whatever. Need to check on that this next week. Hmmm….
Poor Holly, Wes told me you got pulled over in our subdivision. I am sure your ticket is taken care of. I am sure if it was showing unpaid, you would have not gotten off so easy. That was probably his little way of letting you know that he knows about your prior driving blemish. First time I got pulled over, I was scared to death. I didn’t know what I had done, I was 16 or 17 and the only thing I could think of was maybe it was because I was tailgating the idiot going 30 in front of me. I had to get out of the vehicle and was asked if I had weapons or drugs in the vehicle. I just knew I was going to jail, I was almost in tears. He says to me in a sarcastic tone, ” You honestly don’t know why I pulled you over?” I was like NO, he says, “You have a headlight out”. I was so mad. Luckily I didn’t get a ticket, but I was still pretty upset about getting the third degree about a stupid headlight.

Don’t worry, at least you didn’t get taken to jail.
